Richard Gazotti

My journey began in 1987 when I first stepped onto the martial arts path. What started as a fascination with combat and self-defense became a lifelong pursuit of mastery. Over the years, I trained in Wrestling, Boxing, Kickboxing, Pankratos, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Catch Wrestling, Jeet Kune Do, Ninjutsu, Savate, and Capoeira, along with many other martial arts systems. By the age of 15, I was already competing in grappling and Jiu-Jitsu, developing the competitive spirit and discipline that would shape the rest of my life.

Martial arts taught me far more than how to fight. It taught me perseverance, courage, humility, and the importance of protecting others. In 1999, I became the Colorado State Champion in Advanced Grappling at Light Heavyweight. In 2004, I coached a state championship team, helping others achieve success through hard work and dedication. Yet my education was not limited to tournaments and training halls. Much of what I learned came from the realities of the streets.

From 2002 to 2024, I worked as a Bouncer and Director of Security in some of the busiest nightlife environments. During those years, I encountered situations that tested every skill I possessed. I dealt with violent confrontations, weapons, gang activity, intoxicated individuals, and countless high-pressure incidents where lives could be changed in an instant. I also served as a bodyguard for nationally known celebrities and entertainers and earned a reputation among many of my peers as one of the best security professionals in the country.

In addition, I spent five years working in Loss Prevention, where I arrested well over one hundred individuals and personally placed handcuffs on them. This work taught me how quickly dangerous situations can develop and reinforced the importance of awareness, control, and restraint. Throughout my career, I survived multiple life-threatening encounters involving guns, knives, and physical assaults, including incidents with multiple attackers. By the grace of God, I not only survived but was often placed in situations where I could protect others. I have fought to defend the innocent, shield the vulnerable, and help save lives when people were in danger.

For decades, I believed my mission was simply to become a better fighter, protector, and leader. But in 2022, everything changed.

In that year, I had a powerful encounter with Jesus Christ. What I experienced was more than a religious moment—it was a calling. Christ called me to become His disciple and a shepherd. The warrior who had spent decades protecting people physically now understood that there was a greater battle being fought for souls. God began transforming my heart and showing me that all of my experiences, training, victories, struggles, and hardships had been preparing me for something far greater than I had imagined.

Today, I serve through Majestic Lion Ministry, a disciple-building ministry dedicated to helping people grow stronger in their faith and become courageous followers of Jesus Christ. Through this ministry, I strive to do my part in building God's Kingdom on earth by making disciples who can stand firm in truth, lead their families well, and become spiritual warriors for Christ.

This calling also led to the creation of Lions of God Martial Arts. Here, my worlds collide. The lessons learned through decades of martial arts training, real-world security experience, and spiritual transformation come together in one mission. I believe God created us as body, mind, and spirit, and all three should be developed for His glory. Through martial arts, fitness, discipleship, prayer, and community, I seek to help others become stronger, more confident, more disciplined, and more faithful followers of Jesus.

My story is not about championships, titles, or accomplishments. It is about God's faithfulness. Looking back, I can see how He used every victory, every challenge, every fight, every lesson, and every hardship to prepare me for His purpose. Today, my greatest desire is to serve Christ, build disciples, protect the vulnerable, and help raise up a generation of mighty men and women of God who are ready to answer His call.

The lion's strength means little without the Shepherd's guidance. My life belongs to Jesus Christ, and everything I have learned is now dedicated to serving Him and advancing His Kingdom.
